Finals Week is Done

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY....... Finals week is done!!!!!! Over!!!!! Gone!!!!! Finished!!!!!! Ended!!!!! Ok, I'm not going to think of any more synonyms. You get the point. Although, my 10 page book report for Islamic Studies is being delayed till Thursday, 7:00 P.M. next week, because it's not due until Friday of that week. And, to top it off, I haven't even started reading the book. SAD. Ok, so I'm not going to worry about my book report right now. OH MY GOD, MY BOOK REPORT!!!!!!!!! No, I'm going to forget it, right now. There's books everywhere, I can't forget it. So maybe I shouldn't forget it, maybe I should actually start working on it. NOT!!!!!

Allright, I will stop rambling, and start wondering about the wonders of this wonderfully wonder-filled world. Ummmm, well, everything in this world is amazing. Let's see I recently heard about this cave called Cave Batu in Malaysia. It's amazing, subhanallah. I know, it's a Hindu cave but it's still amazing in nature. I heard it has the highest ceiling or something. I'm not exactly sure about that but I'm just tring to remember from what I learned on the Arabic news. Here's a little excerpt I found about it:

Batu Caves, located about 11km to the north of Kuala Lumpur, was discovered over 100 years ago, and has grown to become an important devotional site to Hindus, as well as a highly popular tourist spot.

Each year, during the Hindu festival of Thaipusam, devotees and the curious alike throng the area in the hundreds of thousands. Estimates put the average figure at between 800,000 and one million!

Thousands of them carry kavadis as fulfilment of vows; with their bodies pierced by hooks, needles and even skewers, these entranced devotees make quite an impression on the visitor who is seeing them for the first time.

The most famous cave is the Temple Cave with its large cavern and a 100m-high ceiling. Devotees climb the 272 steps to this temple as a sort of pilgrimage.

Visitors may climb the steps as well although the huge crowd during festivals may prove difficult to get through.

Below the Temple Cave is the Dark Cave, a 2km-long network of chambers that is thought to be largely unexplored by man. There are also numerous cave-dwelling creatures here that are unique to this part of the world. To enter this cave, you will first need the permission of the Malaysian Nature Society.

Finals Week...aaaaaah

Yep, u bet, the time has come once again. It's time to say goodbye to the awesome teachers and the most challenging class I've taken so far _ English Composition. Yes, it is more challenging than calculus; why, you may ask. It's not because I don't like writing, I love to write anything, from short stories to analytical or critical papers to arguments to research papers. Yup, I'm pretty much a nerd who likes to analyze everything that comes to mind, and I'm proud of it. What else am I proud of? I'm proud of how much time I waste doing worthless things and I remember that I have a final the next day. Fun, right?

Anyway, back to our topic, yes, the english class was hard because my professor was this lawyer who really loves to torture his students and teach them life lessons that they will never forget because of how much agony they experienced while learning those lessons. He's funny, he's nice, he's outright (and blunt at times), he's a genius, but you can bet your whole fortune (it's haram, I don't advice to do so) he's strict and hard. He basically lives to make his students pull their hair out (I suspect he works secretly for a company that sells hair products, so that we can go to them to fix our hair problems). However, I will have to admit, it is the class that I learned the most out of in my whole entire life. I mean seriously, this guy is a genius and he tries to pass his smartness to his students.

Well, all those courses are over with now, all that is left now are the finals, which reminds me, I have a psychology final on Monday, aaaah well, my review time for that is scheduled at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday. Pray for me to do well on the finals..... allright so here's a little poem to my english teacher:

You're so cool,
Because you're awesomely cruel

I just say wow
when you say now

here's your paper
it was awesome and rare

but it dosen't fulfill the assignment
therefore, eventhough, it was excellent

you get to suffer some more
because I know you have nothing else to aim for

ok, that was lame, but whatever, I would have added that he's a genius, but I couldn't find a word to rhyme with it. HAPPY END OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! oh and HAPPY FINALS WEEK!!!!!!!!!

The Media's portrayal of Islam

Yes, yes, I can see what you're thinking. I can see you right now saying: "Oh no, here comes this topic again!!!" Has this topic been discussed a lot? Sure. Has it been looked at from all perspectives? Unfortunately not. Rest assured that I will get to my main point soon. :)

Nowadays, some of the most important issues that come up when we talk about media's portrayal of Islam include: the sense of sameness that is created between Islam and the Arab culture, the Western understanding that Islam is a philosophy that encourages terrorism, and the claim that Islam is an out-dated religion that doesn't apply to modern times. While those issues are very important, they haven't gotten us very far. Maybe what we need to do is start by thinking about a broader issue and then building an argument that discusses all the other issues from there.

I believe that one of the issues that we really need to focus on is: the media's portrayal of Islam as a political philosophy rather than a religion. Eventhough Islam includes politics because it is afterall a way of life, it is not just limited to that. Islam is everything in life not just politics. Furthermore, when the public thinks of it as a religion, they will be more open to discuss it with Muslims and scholars and learn more about it. Whereas, if they percieve it as some political entity, they will just look at it as if it is merely a "corrupted" political position.

In addition to that, the United States is a country where religion is viewed as a private matter and state and church are separated. Therefore, if non-Muslims living in this country understand that Islam is a whole religion by all meanings of the word, they will not be as hostile towards Muslims. They would not disagree with them on every point they argue. Afterall, humans by nature will shape anything they see by their first impressions. Therefore, when they see Muslims arguing something that they themselves believe, they will not percieve it as such; rather they will attack it eventhough they believe in it themselves!!! In other words, we must make sure that people don't degrade Islam to merely a political position or entity when it really is the perfect and complete religion. If they understand that well, they will stop arguing against everything Muslims have to say and respect them more. They will also be more open to learn about Islam, and once they do learn about the real Islam, they will realize that many of the stereotypes that are framed by the media about our religion are incorrect and biased. That would in turn solve many of the Muslims' troubles.

I was just thinking about that and I wanted to share my thoughts with you... Please give me your opinions on the topic.

Salamat,
Rawan

A Message to the Librarian

This is a message that was sent to the librarian who trashed the Qura'n (refer to the previous blog)by a Muslim sister. His reply is right under her message. I think she sent an excellent message, I loved the way she made it seem like she just wanted to educate him and that she didn't need an apology from him. Read and give me your opinion....

Rawan

Mr. Greg Martinson,

I am contacting you in regards to Thursday's incident in which you trashed the holy book of Islam at Roseville Area High School. I am not seeking an apology. I would like to extend an opportunity to you to educate yourself about Islam by reading the Quran. By doing so will you understand that it does not encourage terrorism nor does it advocate violence.

Those who committ violent acts in the name of Islam are, like yourself, ignorant of the teachings of the Quran. If a drunk driver crashes his car into a tree, who do you blame..the car or the driver? In the same way, you cannot put blame on the Quran for the wrong actions of a minority of Muslims. Like Christian extremists, Muslim extremists are also a minority. There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world and 99.9% of them are peaceful,
moderate individuals.

Here are some random verses from the Quran:

"Do not forget to show kindness to each other. Surely God observes your actions." (2:237, Quran)

"Do not follow anyone blindly in those matters of which you have no knowledge, surely the use of your ears and eyes and heart - all of these, shall be questioned on the Day of Judgement." (17:36, Quran)

"O mankind! We created you from a male and female and made you into nation and tribes that you may know and honor each other (not that you should despise each other). Indeed the most honorable of you in the sight of God is the most righteous." (Quran, 49: 13)

"Tell My servants that they should speak in the most kindly manner [to those who do not share their beliefs]: For Satan is always ready to stir up discord between men." (17:53, Quran)

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Take care.

The Reply:

Thank you for your message.  I intend to do just as you say.  You should also be aware that I my lecture was clearly about intellectual freedom and religious tolerance.  The book burning was to suggest was harmful about such acts.  When I discussed the Koran in front of the class it was clearly to state that I believe that we should be extremely cautious about turning our
war against terror into a war between religions, especially one which translates into peace in English.  Unfortunately, that message was drowned out by a single stupid metaphorical act tht I wish to apologize to all muslims for.  This will, of course, never happen again.  Finally, I do plan to educate my self further by reading your holy book.  Again, you have my sincerest and most heartfelt apology.

Trashing of the Qura'n, wal 3iathu billah

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Minneapolis, MN - March 20, 2006) A prominent national & Minnesota based Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today called upon Roseville Area High School and Roseville Area School District to repudiate recent Islamophibic remarks by school librarian Gregory Martinson, who claimed last Thursday that the Quran “encourages terrorism,” and therefore belonged in the trash.

The Muslim American Society – Freedom Foundation (MAS-FF) was notified of an incident involving a 9th Grade Muslim student at Roseville Area High School.

The student reported to MAS-FF that a librarian was invited as a guest speaker to speak to an English class about censorship on Thursday, March 16th. During his presentation, the librarian explained to students that some books do not belong at home or in the school library and that these books “belonged in the trash”. He brought a total of 13 publications to the class presentation. A ceremonial trash can was present in the classroom which had colored paper cut-outs of fire. He held up each book in turn, described what he thought was wrong with them and why they needed to be banned. Then he proceeded to throw each book into the trash can, saying "this book belongs in the trash" or "this book should be banned". One of the publications that the librarian decided belonged in the trash and should be burned and banned is the Qur’an, the Holy Book of the Muslim faith. The librarian continued to explain that the Qur’an is a book that encourages “terrorism,” advocates “violence” and therefore belonged in the trash. During this entire presentation, a teacher was present in the room and made no efforts to intervene or discourage the disparaging remarks made by the librarian. As part of the presentation, students were given an assignment where they were asked to discuss why each book should be banned.
The Legal Department at MAS-FF has issued a letter formally requesting that all presentations of this nature to be immediately withdrawn from the curriculum. Further, MAS-FF has requested a written and public letter of apology from all responsible parties to be issued to students, parents and staff. MAS-FF will be arranging a conference with the Roseville Public School District to discuss any other actions that may need to be explored and how to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future.

Ok, yes, I know, it's another long article as some of you are probably thinking, but it's really important.... at least look at the poll

Negative Perception Of Islam Increasing

Poll Numbers in U.S. Higher Than in 2001

Washington Post Staff Writers
Thursday, March 9, 2006; Page A01

As the war in Iraq grinds into its fourth year, a growing proportion of Americans are expressing unfavorable views of Islam, and a majority now say that Muslims are disproportionately prone to violence, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The poll found that nearly half of Americans -- 46 percent -- have a negative view of Islam, seven percentage points higher than in the tense months after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, when Muslims were often targeted for violence.

The survey comes at a time of increasing tension; the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq show little sign of ending, and members of Congress are seeking to block the Bush administration's attempt to hire an Arab company to manage operations at six of the nation's ports. Also, Americans are reading news of deadly protests by Muslims over Danish cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammad.

Conservative and liberal experts said Americans' attitudes about Islam are fueled in part by political statements and media reports that focus almost solely on the actions of Muslim extremists.

According to the poll, the proportion of Americans who believe that Islam helps to stoke violence against non-Muslims has more than doubled since the attacks, from 14 percent in January 2002 to 33 percent today.

The survey also found that one in three Americans have heard prejudiced comments about Muslims lately. In a separate question, slightly more (43 percent) reported having heard negative remarks about Arabs. One in four Americans admitted to harboring prejudice toward Muslims, the same proportion that expressed some personal bias against Arabs.

Though the two groups are often linked in popular discourse, most of the world's Muslims are not of Arab descent. For example, the country with the largest Muslim population is Indonesia.

As a school bus driver in Chicago, Gary McCord, 65, dealt with many children of Arab descent. "Some of the best families I've ever had were some of my Muslim families," he said in a follow-up interview. "They were so nice to me." He now works for a Palestinian Christian family, whose members he says are "really marvelous."

But his good feelings do not extend to Islam. "I don't mean to sound harsh or anything, but I don't like what the Muslim people believe in, according to the Koran. Because I think they preach hate," he said.

As for the controversial cartoons of Muhammad, he said Arabs seem hypersensitive about religion. "I think it's been blown out of proportion," he said.

Frederick Cole, a welder in Roosevelt, Utah, acknowledged: "As far as being prejudiced against them, I'd have to say maybe a little bit. If I were to go through an airport and I saw one out of the corner of my eye, I'd say, 'I wonder what he's thinking.' " Still, Cole, 30, said, "I don't think the religion is based on just wanting to terrorize people."

A total of 1,000 randomly selected Americans were interviewed March 2-5 for this Post-ABC News poll. The margin of sampling error for the overall results is plus or minus three percentage points.

The history of Valentine's day

Ok, I know this is the most boring thing you can hear about, but when I read the article I ws surprised, because I didn't think Valentine's day had a history.....but guess I'm wrong, just a note: uuh this is just for the sake of wasting time as I do a lot these days, and it by no means indicates that I celebrate Valentine's day!!!! :) LOL

The reign of emperor Claudius was one marked by ceaseless war and bloodshed. In order to fuel his massive military campaigns, Claudius required an ever increasing number of soldiers to swell the ranks of Rome's legions. But, after many years of war and death, conscripts grew scarce. Not only had the wars decimated Rome's youth, but a growing number of soldiers were leaving the ranks for the softer and more appealing bonds of marriage. Claudius became an object of ridicule for his wars -- becoming know as 'The Bloody' emperor. Marriage was seen as a fitting and romantic way to combat Claudius' warmongering.

Angered at this outrage, Claudius enacted a ban on all marriages. Now young men could no longer use love as an 'excuse' to avoid war. For a brief period, Claudius' ban worked and the ranks of Rome's legions swelled.

However, Claudius' ban was very unpopular and it didn't take long for dissent to take hold of Rome's citizenry and occupants. A number of those among the clergy, in direct defiance of the emperor, decided to continue performing marriage ceremonies. One of the most outspoken of these was a priest by the name of Valentine. In the name of love, Valentine continued his service and, in the name of love he was convicted and executed by the Bloody Claudius.

Valentine immediately became a hero and his name was whispered on the lips of Romans everywhere. He became both a symbol of secret love and of the act of love in defiance of war. Over time, Valentine gained sainthood and we know him today as St. Valentine -- the patron of love

Hahahahaha, what a stupid cause to die for!!!!!

Ok, I can see everybody saying, what has gotten into this girl? I repeat, I don't celebrate Valentine's day!!!!! LOL

An Interesting Debate

Ok, this is a debate between two Muslims (I won't mention their names eventhough this was sent out to everybody who was in the MN Muslims yahoo group), I liked the response the second Muslim gave. I would like to know your opinion about this, I thought it was very interesting.

Assalam-o-alaikum warahmatullah-i-wabarakatuhu,

I wish this letter, and similar others that have been in circulation
lately, were accompanied by appeals to reason in Muslims. I am sick of the
way Islam's name is being used these days--by both Muslims and
non-Muslims--and I won't hesitate a minute before blaming at least half of
it on the herd mentality of the Muslim Ummah. Can't we--shouldn't we--stop
to think before burning flags, denouncing free speech and "the West,"
initiating boycotts of companies, making huge demands--that embassies be
closed, that world leaders issue written apologies, and so on? How many of
us took drastic measures, or even small ones, when Iran's president
dismissed the Holocaust as a myth (of course, whether _that_ was free
speech as defensible [or indefensible] as these cartoons is another
question, albeit an important one)? Or way back when the Taliban destroyed
Buddhist idols in Afghanistan? Sure, it may have discomforted or annoyed us
that Muslims/Muslim leaders would do such things, but was there a worldwide
*uprising* (on a scale similar to Muslims' protests anytime something
happens to us) by followers of these faiths following said events?

I'm not saying we should be complacent in the face of such depictions of
the Beloved Prophet (peace be upon him), but doesn't the current state of
affairs call for a little bit more reflection on the consequences of our
knee-jerk reactions? What we're doing now only provides more fodder for
those who argue that Muslims are always looking for an excuse to get
up-in-arms about issues which people of other faiths also face and deal
with decently; that they hate free speech and freedom in general; that it's
useless to expect civility of them in matters of religion, with few
exceptions; that [insert favorite stereotype of Muslims here]. And we all
know what's coming next: Western leaders will issue carefully worded,
qualified appeals for calm on everyone's part; the rift between Muslims and
non-Muslims will widen at least somewhat; and the vicious cycle of
anti-Muslim speech/policies and Muslim's vehement responses to them will
continue ad nauseum.

Please, before you respond to this email--if you choose to at all--try to
take in the larger picture. You'll see an ominous continuity in the events
of the past four-and-a-half years, and perhaps you'll recognize the need to
stop it NOW. Now, more than ever, we need to follow the Prophet's example.
He asked Allah (SWT) to guide his tormenters to the right path even when
their stoning filled his shoes with blood. Surely we can at least _try_ to
emulate a modicum of his patience and wisdom. (Before we start claiming
that Islam and Muslims are under serious and real attack, we should
acknowledge the genuineness of many Jews' feelings when they exhibit a
perpetual victim mentality and perceive any criticism of Israel's policies
as a sign of virulent anti-Semitism.)

What I omitted from this email was a call for the people who have published
and re-published these articles--and people who sympathize with them
because they see it as a simple free speech issue--to reflect on the
context and consequences of _their_ words and actions. I trust that that's
understood. Finally, I want to thank IRG for their timely and very
well-crafted statement.

Wassalam

RESPONSE:

Salaam to all,

I have just read Br. Munazza's sincere and passionate appeal for calm and I would like to comment on just one of his statements.  His full letter is included below.

Br. Munazza said: "How many of us (Muslims) took drastic measures, or even small ones, when Iran's president dismissed the Holocaust as a myth?"

Br. Munazza capitalized the word holocaust in his question indicating that he (like so many Muslims) has bought into the propaganda that the Jewish holocaust is the worst human atrocity in the history of mankind (we are talking about thousands and thousands of years) and therefore warrants the special title of  "THE Holocaust."

Here are my responses to his question why Muslims did not protest when the President of Iran called the holocaust a myth:

There are many Jewish academics who question the official story of the Jewish holocaust.  In fact, there are many honorable anti-Zionist Jewish researchers who have said a lot worse than what the president of Iran said.

Also, keep in mind that most Zionists claim that the "Palestinian Nakba" never took place and Israel's many prime ministers have claimed that the term Palestinian is a fabrication and a myth and that the land of Israel was, "a land without a people for a people without a land."  Where is the outcry over that?

For those who do not know, "The Palestinian Nakba" refers to the Palestinian catastrophe in 1948 in which about 800,000 Palestinians (2/3 of the 1.2 million who lived in Palestine) were forced to leave their homeland at gunpoint to make way for European Jews during the creation of the state of Israel.   To this day, Israel won't allow these refugees to return to their native land; instead they live in slum-like conditions and are treated as 2nd class citizens in their country of residence.
Their counterparts in occupied Palestine are living in the world's first OPEN AIR PRISON.

These Palestinian refugees and their counterparts in Palestine are one of the MANY victims of the holocaust known as World War II.

Although I completely agree with Br. Munazza that we as Muslims should follow the path of our beloved Prophet and not take drastic or violent measures to demonstrate our anger or offense, I also feel nothing but repulsion at these leaders of the "free world"  who love to scream free speech, constitution, democracy blah blah blah at anything that demeans or insults Arabs/Muslims, but are bending over backyard to enact legislation which would make illegal any comment that would be deemed anti-semitic or anti-Israel.

In many European countries, Canada and soon in America (You know the nations which call themselves the "Free World"---Oh Puulleeaasse) it is illegal to question the official story of the Jewish holocaust.  Right now there are academics, researchers and journalists who are in jail in European cities and in Canada merely because they questioned the official story of the Jewish holocaust.

This lack of free speech to question a historical event in societies which are constantly bragging about how intellectually FREE they are reeks of arrogance and hypocrisy.  For those who are interested please go to google and type in Ernst Zundel and read about what happened to this 65 year old man merely because he claimed that the number of Jews who died in World War II was much less than 6 million.
Whatever happened to Mr. Free Speech?  He only shows up when people are denigrating Arabs/ Muslims or Islam.

Finally, regarding the subject of freedom of speech/_expression, isn't it the height of irony that the nations of the free world who are supposed to protect your freedom to practice your religion are the very ones with laws forbidding a Muslim woman to cover her head in public institutions, effectively denying her her constitutional right to practice her religion?
In the Middle East, countries which are considered democracies (like Turkey and Tunis) are the very ones who deny a woman her right to cover her own head.  Hmmmmmm, To be free or not to be free, that is the question.

I have always believed that if you want someone to act a certain way then you have to act that way yourself---Practice what you preach.  If I were a space alien who just came down to observe the different nations of planet Earth, my report would be titled: "democracy, thy name is hypocrisy."

Article concerning the caricatures about the Prophet (SAW)

This aricle doesn't necessarily portray my personal opinion... i just want to know ur opinion about it...

What the Muhammad cartoons portray
By Martin Asser
BBC News

Twelve caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad published last year have had a huge impact around the world, with riots in many Muslim countries causing deaths and destruction - so what do the drawings actually say?

They originally appeared in the best-selling Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten on 30 September to accompany an editorial criticising self-censorship in the Danish media.

Since then some media outlets have republished the pictures in solidarity, while others - including the BBC - have refrained from publishing them to avoid causing offence to their audiences.

The issue arose after Danish writer Kare Bluitgen complained he was unable to find an illustrator for his children's book about the Prophet, because no one wanted to break an Islamic tenet banning the portrayal of his image.

We are on our way to a slippery slope where no-one can tell how the self-censorship will end
Jyllands-Posten editorial
Jyllands-Posten asked cartoonists to "draw the Prophet as they saw him", as an assertion of free speech and to reject pressure by Muslims groups to respect their sensitivities.

The paper chose as its central image a visual joke about the Prophet among other turban-wearing figures in a police line-up and the witness saying: "I don't know which one he is".

It is presumably an ironic appeal for calm over the issue, the suggestion being that, if a Danish illustrator were to portray the Prophet, it is not known what he looks like and therefore a harmless gesture.

The humour comes from the fact that the line-up also includes people like Jesus Christ, the far-right Danish politician Pia Kjaersgaard and Mr Bluitgen himself.

'PR stunt'

Eleven other cartoons are printed around the edge of the page showing the Prophet in a variety of supposedly humorous or satirical situations.

One seems to criticise Mr Bluitgen himself for exploiting the issue for publicity to sell his book.

He is portrayed holding a child's drawing of the Prophet, while an orange inscribed with "PR stunt" drops into a turban he is wearing. (The expression "orange in the turban" connotes a "piece of luck" in Danish.)

Other images appear not especially critical of Islam in their content.

One shows the Prophet wandering through the desert with the sun setting behind him. In another his face merges with an Islamic star and crescent.

Several cartoonists, however, do seem to take the Jyllands-Posten commission as an invitation to be deliberately provocative towards Muslims.

Critical views

The most controversial image shows the Prophet Muhammad carrying a lit bomb in the shape of a turban on his head decorated with the Islamic creed.

The face is angry, dangerous-looking - a stereotypical villain with heavy, dark eyebrows and whiskers.

Another shows Muhammad brandishing a sword ready for a fight. His eyes are blacked out while two women stand behind him with their Islamic dress leaving only their eyes uncovered.

Two of the critical cartoons do not show the Prophet at all. One uses crescent moons and stars of David to form repeated abstract shapes, possibly showing women in Islamic dress.

A poem accompanies the shapes, that one translator has rendered as: "Prophet, you crazy bloke! Keeping women under yoke."

In the other, a schoolboy points to a blackboard on which it is written in Farsi "The editorial team of Jyllands-Posten are a bunch of reactionary provocateurs".

The boy is labelled "Mohammed, Valby school, 7A", suggesting he is a second-generation Iranian immigrant to Denmark. "The future" is written on his shirt.

Humorous views

Other cartoonists have clearly attempted a more humorous approach - as with the central image - although the images will be no less offensive to Muslims.

For example, one shows Muhammad standing on a cloud holding back a line of smouldering suicide bombers trying to get into heaven.

"Stop, stop, we have run out of virgins," he says.

This is a reference to the supposed reward of 72 virgins in heaven for Muslim martyrs, although Islamic scholars often point out that there is no specific belief of this kind.

Another drawing shows Muhammad looking at a sheet of paper, but holding back two sword-wielding assassins.

"Relax guys, it's just a drawing made by some infidel South Jutlander (ie from the middle of nowhere)," the figure says.

One cartoonist portrays Muhammad with a kind of halo around his head, but it could be a crescent moon, or a pair of devil's horns.

Anger and confusion

The last cartoon on the page goes back to the theme of artistic freedom: a cartoonist draws an Arab face with headdress, inscribed "Mohammed", but he crouches over it and shields it with his hand.

The Jyllands-Posten cartoons do not include some images that may have had a role in bringing the issue to international attention.

Three images in particular have done the rounds, in Gaza for example, which are reported to be considerably more obscene and were mistakenly assumed to have been part of the Jyllands-Posten set.

One of the pictures, a photocopied photograph of a man with a pig's ears and snout, has been identified as an old Associated Press picture from a French "pig-squealing" contest.

It was reportedly circulated by Danish Muslims to illustrate the atmosphere of Islamophobia which they say they live under.

However, there is no doubt that the some of the original Jyllands-Posten cartoons are sufficiently hostile in nature to be taken as provocative by the Muslim community, whatever their intention.

stupid media stations

I got so mad when I saw this, they are making so much fun of the Muslims and Islam, i really didn't want to let people see this picture, but we all need to know how the Muslim's image is being distorted and we need to fix it....

I got more news about it but I couldn't put it on the space cuz its in arabic and for some reason, it won't let me change the language they have it in (which is a really wierd language) into arabic or english, so sorry about that.
I'll get the rest of the story soon...

They advertized coca cola products with praying Muslims, how can they , so much for freedom of speech!!! They say freedom of speech, why aren't other religions targeted by this "freedom of speech". It's so maddening, i swear!!!! Give me your thoughts about this!!!

Ok, maybe the jokes are lame but its the best i can come up with other than a story of my life (lol), so be happy....

here are two jokes that i found funny, they may sound lame, but i really have nothing else to tlak about at the moment, so be happy and read....

here's the proof of what i believe, just jk, lol....

The Boss

A manager was complaining in a staff meeting that he wasn't getting any respect.

Later that morning he went out and got a small sign that read, "I'm the Boss".

He then taped it to his office door.

Later that day when he returned from lunch, he found that someone had taped a note to the sign that said.

"Your wife called, she wants her sign back!"

poor teacher....

You Are Ugly

Finding one of her students making faces at others on the playground, Ms. Smith, the Sunday School teacher, smiling sweetly said, "Bobby, when I was a child I was told if that I made ugly an face, it would freeze and I would stay like that."

Bobby looked up and replied, "Well, Ms. Smith, you can't say you weren't warned."

Nothing interesting to talk about but thought I might just put in some rambles!!!! just jk!!!!

Salams everybody,

So here I am blogging away and I really have nothing to say. Oh my god that rhymes, wow I'm actually writing poetry!!!! LOL!!!!!! What a lame way to go on with your day!!!! Another rhyme, man I'm gonna be proud of myself soon!!!! hahahahahahaha, *laughes her head off at how lame her joke of a poetry is*. Ok enough with the rambles, no wait never mind, I need to ramble some more because I know that everybody who reads this is very interested in my life *smiles sarcastically and rolls eyes* (btw, I took this technique (*action*) from my friend outspoken soul, she's great at it). So, yeah, ok, ok I will save you from the tales of my boring day which was spent studying stupid ways of psychological research such as naturalistic observation which is creepy because why would anybody want to sit and stare at people passing by and see how they behave?????!!!!!!!! Ok, so maybe I'm exaggerating, but at any rate psychology is soooo much fun becuase our TA is really cool!!! I mean he is lenient with grading and he makes the class really fun, with videos, funny stories, jokes, and cool activities. Ok, so yea I broke my promise and rambled on about my course. To make up for that, I will come up with something much more interesting for next time!!! I promise with the oath of arabs!!! LOL :) ttyl and I will be visiting a few really nice spaces soon, I promise about that too.

salamat everyone ("rolling eyes" like anyone reads it anyway)

Salams,

I am honestly back now, I know that half of my blogs say that, but I promise I'm back this time for good. Boy, don't I wish I could go back to Lebanon and say that there!!! :) Ok so, mybe that's not possible now, but who knows, I just hope I can go this summer. So, I heard this one story about a poor little girl and.... I thought
I might share it with you.....

7 year old girl got online to find her mother online! So she decided to start a quick convo with her mom... which would forever scar her...

Mom: Hey sweet heart! Are you having a nice time at your dads?
Girl: Yea, it's pretty cool! Ya know... considering he's not here! Hehe
Mom:Oh really?
Mom: Where is he?
Girl: He left a note saying he was going to the store or something like that.
Girl: Hey, you have a webcam now, don't you!
Mom: Sure do, Kenny bought it for me!
Girl: Cool! Try it out!
Mom: Alrighty...
Girl: Oh god mom! What are you wearing?!
Mom: New jammies, you like?
Girl: No way! Those are so out of style!
Mom: Aww... Oh well-
Girl: Hey mom... Is kenny there with you?
Mom: No, why?
Girl: ....Mom....Don't move... just stay calm.. there's someone in the door way behind you...
Mom: Don't scare me!
Girl: ..I'm not kidding... look in the reflection of the monitor... then slowly grab the phone and call 911....

Before her mother was able to reach the phone an ice pick was stabbed into the back of her neck and yanked all the way across. That's the last thing the girl saw of her mother- blood from her mothers throat splashed all over the camera. The only thing visible were shadows. She saw this person tear her mother limb from limb... All she could do was watch in horror as this shadow killed the only person she loved.

And the even more scary thing about this was that my mom told me she heard the same story on the news so it's true!!!! Aaaaah!!!! Allah yustur!!!! She said it was really big in the news at the time and it scared everybody, and I don't think this happened a long time ago, maybe a year or two but not more!!! Enough of th escary stuff! I'll be posting soon, and I will have nice interesting stories to tell inshaallah..... maybe!!!! No, seriously, it might be rembling but I will be blogging inshaallah, ok salams, everybofy, and comments please!!!

Kathimain tragedy

Salams,

I can't believe what happened in Iraq, I know this is a late comment on the tragedy, but I just had to say something. It is very very very sad. And what's sadder is that when Hurricane katrina hit in New Orleans, everyone (some Arab countries - $500,000,000!!!!-imagine how many poor and hungry families they could have helped in their neigboring Arab countries with that money) rushed to the rescue. I don't have anything against that, bil aaks, I'm happy that they're helping, but the annoying thing is that they rush to help one of the advanced developed countries when they haven't even thought about lending a hand to our Muslim brothers and sisters in Iraq and Palestine. Especially when around 1000 Muslims got killed in Iraq. And there are martyrs in Palestine every day. Their families may be in need, many people there are poor because of the economy or other reasons. And yet all the other Arab countries are just watching. It is just very frustrating.

Salams, I"M BACK, YAAAY

Salamat, how's everyone doing, well whoever looks at this website anyway. I'm fine alhamdulillah, and I'm..... BUSY!!!! But, anyway, I'll try my best to blog regularly and check my website. Well hope to hear from people, and see some nice comments!!!
